.. where Ikea introduces: Snails!

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

Guess what? I now have a new singnature item!! and it is not a giraffe, it’s SNAILs!

(well, that last one is not a snail, it is a mini geocoin with a cow on it, very nice!) normally, i would have taken giraffes as a singnature item, u know, but giraffes are really not so easy to find! especially here, in Estland. in fact, there is rarely ANY giraffes here at all (besides me) and even then, most of them live with us, in Kadriorg! which basically means that they don’t really have small giraffe figures available, i’m afraid. so, instead, my new signature items are SNAILs!

Signature items is something u put in every (most) caches that u find, when u go geocaching. me and my friends, we go geocaching quite often in fact, so it is great to have a signature item. that way everyone can see that u have been there. although, someone else can take it with them as well. so it really gets a bit complicated for a giraffe, like me. but it is good to have one. and i have SNAILs!

i know some fellow Estonian geocachers have LADYBUGs. they are really nice. but snails are quite fun too. i have some snail pals on twitter, so i know they are fun. although the signature items are just snail figures. they are not real snails, like the ones on twitter. this week in fact we have a plan to go geocaching with Undu. so we can test out these fun snails, jei! so i guess i’d better go packing right away. until then, let me know if u have a signature item and what it is! have fun and cu l8r!

.. where Ikea solves a mystery!

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

i don’t know if u have noticed, but quite often when im about to go and do something fun, Undu has dissappeared somewhere? so, i decided to put a “tail” on him – me! (although, in fact he already has a tail, like all wolves – so in case it is confusing, i tried to observe him very closely).

i must say, Undu really was not all that suspicious most of the morning, u know. he went about his usual chores of drinking milk, looking at the cow, cleaning out his pocket and sharpening claws. although i must say, he did sharpening claws twice! so, when i think about it now, it does seem a bit more suspicious than usual.. and then of course, it was quite obvious when he did not join me, teddies and Angel in playing yatzy! so, still playing, i kept a close watch on him from the corner of my eye! – i have quite big eyes, u know, i can keep an eye on lots of things! and, sure enough, suddenly Undu had sneaked out of the door! i excused myself and started to follow!

luckily undu did not go very fast. probably because of two things – he had now his sheep hat on (!!!) and also it was very very very hot! but it was good pace actually for sneaking (one of my favorite things to do also). we did not go to far really, and by the time we got there i had already solved the mystery – Undu was about to go SHEEPING! and he did! here’s a fotograf for you to see also (note the sheep on the background):

mystery solved! u must be curious to find out what ‘sheeping’ is? it is quite simple, really. it is when you go and mingle into a flock of sheep, dressed as a sheep, so that they don’t find out you are not a sheep! it’s actually one of Undu’s favorite things to do, as i found out! but he never takes friends – and it’s quite obvious why – we don’t have the sheep costumes!

but, it does seem a lot like a fun thing to do. maybe i will try to get a sheep costume for myself from somewhere? perhaps my friend Shaun can help – i will try to find out. Until then – let me know what fun’s been happening in your flock of sheep, hehe! have fun and cu l8r!

.. where Ikea travels in Hiiumaa

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

how are you all doing? im doing gr8! just came back from a little travelling in Hiiumaa. apparently, Hiiumaa is an island (similar to Madagascar, but much smaller) so everywhere we went it was sea around! in fact, you have to take a boat to get there. this was the boat that we were supposed to take:

but it seems like that one is more for cars, not as much for giraffes. but it was quite fun, with nice sun outside and wind blowing in the face!

as it turns out, there are many islands besides Hiiumaa. so, first we went to see, if we can help to build a bridge to the largest one, Saaremaa. apparently, there was this one guy that wanted to build this bridge already, named Leiger. he, however, is now really busy being a bronze statue and the bridge is still unfinished somehow… so, at here’s me rolling a stone towards the end of Tirbi säär:

so that’s about 800 meters to go still. but finally..

.. i’m there! so, this is where the bridge works is at this moment. so, if you are travelling here any time soon, please bring some stones as well!
after such big roadworks, we went to a sauna on the sea! i did not go to the sauna myself, but i was listening to the radio:

great fun, because we had to take a small boat to get here and back! so, that was pretty much all for day one.

like i said, you could not go anywhere on this island without ending up in the sea. so, for the second day, we went to the sea first, to get that out of the way.

not too much sun outside, but A LOT of wind!! wohooo, and the WAVES!!! i have to say, i did not go to swim. giraffes, like me – are not really good swimmers u know. maybe i will take up swimming one day, but not with these INCREDIBLE waves! but it was great fun watching! in fact, i had to run away from this spot that i was sitting many times because sometimes the waves came chasing me all the way up there!

so, later on, we climbed up this 3rd oldest working lighthouse in the world, with really nice tall steps:

in fact, the steps were a little bit over my head, when i was standing up..

..but eventually, i managed to get up there, jei! and guess what was there besides nice view? the WIND! wohoo, the same wind that had built up those monster waves had come along and climbed up the wall instead of taking stairs. how so clever indeed. so, here’s couple of fotografs from the lighthouse:

what an interesting small man looking up, don’t you think? i think his name was Ants, because that’s what the kids were saying at the tower… (u know they were saying something like – “hey, these people look exacly like Ants”)

so, that’s pretty much it! well of course then we went geocaching :) and also hide one new cache right in the middle of Kärdla (but that’s a secret for now, so i can’t show you any fotografs of that) 8-)

what about you? have you been travelling to any islands lately? let me know! have fun and cu l8r!
