.. where Ikea is watching H100 and gets kidnapped

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

guess what! i have just been to South-Estonia for the week-end. and lots of fun things happen in South-Estonia, if u ask me. For exampel Haanja 100, which is an event for people with bikes, usually mountain-bikes. Giraffes, like me, we are not much into biking, but i like bikes sometimes. and i like to watch the competition events, like H100 (last year). This event looks like gr8 fun because, u know, u have to bike one hundred kilometers. That’s a lot of meters! but not all bikers do 100 kilometers. in fact, some of them do one hundred MILES! that’s even more meters!! and it takes pretty much all day! Like for exampel this guy here, Jouni, apparently he doing 100 miles:

how do i know that? because he has this number, with a name on it, hehe! so, as u can see, me and my friend Sten went to watch the bikers on a big hill called Vorstimägi with a 2-milline (2-million) view. unfortunately, i could not stay there for long, because, u know suddenly there was this mysterious guy dressed in blue and before i or my friend Sten could do anything i was kidnapped and carried away lots of meters! luckily we have a fotograf:

as u can see, i don’t have any more fotografs of the bikers, because, u know, it is not so easy to take fotografs when u are kidnapped! and i have to tell u, i was kidnapped for quite a while. but i can tell u now that all ended well and i am now back at home, Kadriorg. im not going to reveal the mystery how i got back, but i CAN tell u that the mother of this mysterious guy in blue WAS indeed involved. so, the most important thing is to stay calm, even when kidnapped while watching bike racing, hehe!
good news is that there are photos from others, from the same area, Vorstimägi, over here! but what about you? have u ever been kidnapped? and what about biking 100 miles? let me know! have fun and cu l8r!

.. where Ikea makes ice-cream shake!

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

although summer is almost done, it is always a gr8 time for some ice-cream, don’t you think? i think so. but since i already have several very very good ice-creams inside the top 100 best things to eat, here’s a little something different – an ice-cream shake! and not just any shake, an orange-color shake, jei! and making it is really easy. it’s almost as easy as cooking or making christmas cookie, or even easier in fact!

so, here’s what you need for Orange Ice-Cream Shake:

1. 1 litre of ice-cream! i recommend a mango-melon (cantaloupe) ice-cream, they have a really good one of those here in Estland

2. around 0,5 litres (or less, it seems to me) of (orange) Fanta

3. a blender

4. a bowl of some sort. or a tall cup (highly recommended by and for giraffes who are not so gr8 at blending)

5. a giraffe (optional)

as u can see, this is what i had. and like I said, the making part is quite simple and fun. as the name says, all u need to do is to mix the ice-cream with the Fanta and then shake it together. or blend, rather. here’s how it’s done:

blend a little more:

and then, it is ready, jei! however, it is quite important to taste, also!!

like for exampel, it takes me lots of time to blend, so i don’t use all the Fanta (i like Fanta also a lot, for two reasons, do u know why? yes, it is orange and it starts with F!) because of the ice-cream melting that takes place. also, a tip from a giraffe here: you can’t make a really good shake only with melted ice-cream, u know. U do need SOME Fanta in this recipe to make it work!

so, now it is time for some Orange Ice-Cream Shake! best to combine with sunbathing, if possible. Have fun trying it out and let me know how you liked it! have fun and cu l8r!

.. where Ikea travels to Viru raba (bog)

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

apparently, it has been more than 2 years since i have been to bogs! so, me and my friend Sipsik decided to end this run of 24-months-without-bogs series once and for all! because, u know, bogs are quite nice in this neck of woods! Estland, that is.

so, we went to this bog called Viru raba (Viru bog). Not sure about this name Viru, but many places east of Kadriorg seem to have this name. My friend Lotte says that it is probably to do with Finns, but i couldn’t tell. And also, the Finns live more towards North, not to East of here. So it is a bit of a mystery in fact..

but the bog is quite nice. and – which we, giraffes like best about these nice bogs – they have boardwalks!! because u know, it is quite hard to walk in a bog (or run!) if u are a giraffe. much easier, if you are a crocodile, if u ask me, hehe! so, boardwalks are gr8! and they are quite loooong too, as u can see!

The boardwalks usually take you to some place. For example, in Viru bog, they take you to the lakes and a tower. Here’s a not-so-gr8 photograph of me and lakes – from the tower:

These towers are quite nice, but only 5 people can go up at a time. Not a word about giraffes, so you can bring lots, i think..
I like this boardwalk in Viru raba especially because it even goes past the tower! so, u can go to the lakes, and make a circle back to where u started that way. Unless of course u get hungrig.. Which can also happen, if u walk with small steps, like me. Luckily we had prepared for this and brought along some cake, jei!

(also, i can secretly tell u that we also found lots and lots of blueberries – but don’t tell anyone, i plan going back there with a jar! Especially don’t tell the Teddies, because they are quite mad about blueberries. For example, last Tuesday they ate a book, which had blueberries on it’s cover!!) Strawberry cake in fact. I think it was probably the best strawberry cake i have ever tried in a bog. I have to put it on my top 100 best cakes to eat list, probably. Which reminds me that i have not updated the list for a while. Maybe i will try to cook something for next week..

Well, i will go and have a think about that. Until then, thanks for stopping, have fun and cu l8r! and if you can recommend any other bogs to visit, please let me know!
