Ikea just before departing 7.10.2010

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea (the Giraffe traveller)!

i know, this can be a little confusing sometimes. because, u know, we, giraffes, look very similar! so that’s why we, Ikeas look similar too. but, i have a fotograf here which can help you (you can recognize me by a little shorter neck) – just before departing, i went to visit my home park, Kadriorg, for a little autumn sunbathe! it is nice! Especially if you are sitting on a stone like that. In fact, the cache of Catbert is really not too far from here, if u ask me!
In fact, i am not a regular Ikea, the giraffe. I’m a travel giraffe. so, I am going to travel around the world from geocache to geocache and also sometimes i hope i meet some people with a camera, so they take a fotograf from me in some fun place and upload it to !! (also on blogroll here) because u know, those uploads will also feature here on this blog, wohoo! so, if you are into geocaching, please come and find me! it would be very nice to meet!

I would like to post some more fotografs, but apparently our computer went all crazy and all the fotografs that are available is this, because it’s posted to my maps already. but hey, not to worry, they said there is a good chance that the fotografs will be ok.

It is almost Friday today, when writing this, so in just couple of days i will be departing for my big adventure!! I will start exactly on 10.10.10, so it is easy to rememeber when i stated. because, giraffes, we don’t have a really good memory i’m afraid. so, by the time you’ll be reading this, i’m already on my way! Looking forward to meeting lots of fun places and taking equally fun fotografs on the way! have fun and cu around!

Ikea For the Fun!

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!
and u know what day it is today? it’s Friday! it’s my favorite day in fact. it starts with F, u know. actually, it is FunFriday. also, i know that today Football World Cup starts. Football is also with F. so lots of Fs and fun. and today is the day when my friend Ikea For the Fun starts it’s travels too! check it out:

so this is my first travel bug. it’s actually not a bug, it’s a small giraffe, like me! it has a goal to get to Africa. Madagascar in fact. because i have this favorite film, Madagascar, and they want to go to Madagascar. and they have a lot of fun going there. so, i wanted to go to Madagascar too. but before i go there myself, i figured, i send my friend, little Ikea traveller. so help him get there! if he gets there, next he will want to go to New York too. so please help. he likes travel as much as i do, in fact. so, today he started his travels really from a geocache named Foorum – hehe, guess why this one :)

.. where Ikea gets stuck on ice, discovers an underwater giraffe and meets swans

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

i have to tell you what happened to me last week when i went a little bit. somehow there is also the sea nearby and because of all this cold weather previously, there is lots of ice. so i went to see, if the ice is strong enough for a giraffe. it was! but then something happened so that there was all this water between me and the land and i got stuck!!


don’t know if u have seen a giraffe stuck on an ice-bank before (Angel says he’s been stuck couple of times), but there i was. mostly very lovely ice i should say except this one side which was REALLY scary..

i have to say, being stuck was not so boring at all. first i was doing a little sunbathing, as u might guess. and then, i discovered another giraffe in the water, looking exactly like me!


so, i tried to find out where he was from. somehow i could not hear a word what he was saying. it seems to me that it’s because of all this water u know. because fish, they are same – you just can’t hear a thing what they are saying to you..

so even though i could not hear him, he could hear me, so we agree to play this little game called “mirror”. that’s when this other giraffe that u are playing with has to do exactly the same faces like you! hehe, that was very much fun. i almost fell in the water!

so, after that i watched a ship go by – but not very close. quite far in fact, so no harm for the ice bank that i was sitting on. luckily then i spotted this swan nearby:

have u read Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige, a book where Nils Holgersson travels across Sweden with a swan? i have, it’s a compulsory book for everyone in sweden – even giraffes, like me. so, me and this swan make a deal where she takes me to the shore.


the swans, they were not from Sweden, but from Germany. but this one swan Marie (on the right, that’s the one flying on that other fotograf), she knew a few words in English. that other one, that’s Maximilian. so we talk a little about politics – no i’m just joking :) we actually talk a little about snow and ice. because they tell me that they arrived early this year and somehow there’s not much to do here, because of the snow. especially there’s not enough of free water, so that they can’t swim.. anyways, i thank them because they had to go somewhere with the other swans. then i saw there were almost . A LOT, for a giraffe. what about u, have u seen swan’s lately? what were their names? have fun and c u l8r!
