.. where Ikea wants to build a snowman

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

now, apparently spring is coming! because when i went out the other day the snow was all wet and sticky. and that only meant one thing – it’s time to build some snowmen! u may be surprized, how giraffes know how to make a snowman? well, guess what – they don’t! but remember, i am from Jonköping, the official capital of snowmen! so, i have observed many kids building big and small, so that’s how i know.

so i started rolling some big snowball very enthusiastically. because, giraffes, like me, are very enthusiastic actually.

u can see the long trail that i have rolled this snowball here, so it started out very well for me. and then, the snowball got bigger..

.. and bigger ..

.. and bigger ..

.. and even bigger now ..

.. and in fact so very big that i had to use my head too. for thinking – how to roll this ball. so i figured i use my head for pushing. that’s how there’s snow on my head, hehe :) but then, this large dog Trumm came right in front of me rolling my snowball!!

so, i could not go any further. so, i just decided to continue some other time, u know.. NOT! actually then i realized that the first ball had grown too big to finish the snowman on my own – i could not move it anywhere! because, u know, this time i had no friends travelling with me (in south-Estonia). i can tell you, that with Angel, Undu and others, building a huge snowman would be a piece of acacia leaf. so instead i made some snow angels, hehe :)

what about u, have you built some snowmen lately? perhaps u can post some fotografs? next time i will try to make a snowgiraffe, if i have time! so, c u l8er!

.. where Ikea tries ski waxing

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

u must have thought the winter is over! not in this neck of woods! hehe… *neck* of woods…
so, there is lot of fun to have with the snow. even for a giraffe, like me. so i decided to learn ski waxing! i don’t have my own skis yet, i’m afraid. but it is good to know how to wax them properly when u finally have them, don’t u think? it seems perfectly logical to me. so, here come some fotografs that i managed to take in the process.

apparently first of all, it’s good to do some brushing with a metal brush. i can understand that. it seems to me that all animals (that i know) like brushing from time to time too. like for example, i very much like to brush my back when it is itching. also, i can tell Angel needs to do a lot more brushing, because his fur is all tangled up, u know. at least most of the time it is. because of hiding in the bamboo basket, that’s why.

so, first one ski..

.. and then the other one :)

so, then, u need this candy-bar looking wax. i think this is for going really fast. then u need to do some ironing and scraping too, but i don’t have any fotografs from that. i think i had to go somewhere and when i got back all that was already done. so, i hope i can try that some other time.

and then, if u want to ski classic style (i can secretly tell you that for most animals, classic is highly recommended, hehe) u need some grip wax too:

and that’s pretty much it! after all this waxing, skiing is supposed to be six times as fun as without! did u know that? let me know! so, cu l8r!

.. where Ikea gets stuck on ice, discovers an underwater giraffe and meets swans

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

i have to tell you what happened to me last week when i went a little bit. somehow there is also the sea nearby and because of all this cold weather previously, there is lots of ice. so i went to see, if the ice is strong enough for a giraffe. it was! but then something happened so that there was all this water between me and the land and i got stuck!!

don’t know if u have seen a giraffe stuck on an ice-bank before (Angel says he’s been stuck couple of times), but there i was. mostly very lovely ice i should say except this one side which was REALLY scary..

i have to say, being stuck was not so boring at all. first i was doing a little sunbathing, as u might guess. and then, i discovered another giraffe in the water, looking exactly like me!

so, i tried to find out where he was from. somehow i could not hear a word what he was saying. it seems to me that it’s because of all this water u know. because fish, they are same – you just can’t hear a thing what they are saying to you..

so even though i could not hear him, he could hear me, so we agree to play this little game called “mirror”. that’s when this other giraffe that u are playing with has to do exactly the same faces like you! hehe, that was very much fun. i almost fell in the water!

so, after that i watched a ship go by – but not very close. quite far in fact, so no harm for the ice bank that i was sitting on. luckily then i spotted this swan nearby:

have u read Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige, a book where Nils Holgersson travels across Sweden with a swan? i have, it’s a compulsory book for everyone in sweden – even giraffes, like me. so, me and this swan make a deal where she takes me to the shore.

the swans, they were not from Sweden, but from Germany. but this one swan Marie (on the right, that’s the one flying on that other fotograf), she knew a few words in English. that other one, that’s Maximilian. so we talk a little about politics – no i’m just joking :) we actually talk a little about snow and ice. because they tell me that they arrived early this year and somehow there’s not much to do here, because of the snow. especially there’s not enough of free water, so that they can’t swim.. anyways, i thank them because they had to go somewhere with the other swans. then i saw there were almost . A LOT, for a giraffe. what about u, have u seen swan’s lately? what were their names? have fun and c u l8r!
