.. where Ikea meets Water Dragon

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea! and Happy New Year! Again!

because, u know – i think? it’s New Year again, this time it’s my friend’s the Dragons’, hehe! So in my neighborhood, Kadriorg, where I live, there was big New Year celebration festival yesterday. I did not have my camera, but today i went to meet the Dragon! it’s actually Water Dragon this year, so it is made of ice!! (unlike the tiger two years ago, which was made of snow) and it looks really really nice, especially in the evening, so i took a fotograf with it! apparently, it is quite cold this ice Dragon, so it’s the only fotograf that i have, i’m afraid. or maybe it’s the only fotograf, because many other people wanted to take fotografs as well.. either way, happy new chinese new year again and greetings to all my friends dragons ;) have u celebrated the new dragon’s year yet? let me know! have fun and cu l8r!

.. where Angel (ice-bear) talks about his favorite thing..

.. which is: ICE!

oh, hello there! It’s me, Ikea! but this time let me introduce to you my friend Angel, the ice-bear! well, in the Great Book of Wild Teddies And Other Animals, ice-bears are sometimes called polar bears. I don’t know why, actually. Because Angel has never told me anything about such thing as “polar”.. But i know one thing for sure – he loves ice!! so, that’s probably why he is called an ice-bear, it seems to me.

Actually, we know of his attraction to ice for quite some time now. probably from day one, when i met him – when i think about it. it seems to me that it was the icicle that he was chewing on that gave him away. but of course we could not be so sure.. until one day of course when my friend Aura (who lives in Tartu) found him building an igloo on the pond!! unfortunately no fotografs from that.

it was quite easy from then on, because most of the time when it gets cold outside, Angel is pretty much gone. that’s usually then when he is building the igloos or just having fun in the ice. like for example this weekend! so this time, i sneaked out after him and took some fotografs. here they are – with Angels comments.

so hello, here this is me, Angel. as u can see, i like ice. a lot! Here i have found a fun iceberg just to sit on and relax. this is very cozy ice, as you can see for yourself.

this, on the other hand is not so nice, because of the colour. however it is not what you may think it is! its just regular ice from the sea. the color is brown because it is meant for brown bears. heh heh. not really, it’s a fun joke that we have with Teddies. the brown colour comes from seaweed and other plants. however, this ice is quite funny because it is not slippery. well, not for me it isn’t.

this is called a three o’clock roll. this is something that i do usually around three o’clock during the daytime every day. it’s just a fun thing to do, especially on a public ice like this one. this time i also got lucky and had very nice white snow on top of the ice, so its all clean and white afterwards. and yes, it is a public ice, the fishermen are all crowded in the background. ask Ikea!

so here i tried to build an igloo too. not a gr8 success i’m afraid. it’s because of the wind and the new brown water/ice that somewhat ruined the idea. better luck next time i guess..

here, this is one of my favorite litte ice-bergs. i just sometimes come and hang around here and look at my reflextion on the ice. it’s quite facinating. there’s also a little bit of Estonian flag in the background, if u look hard enough. so, a gr8 fun place to chill in fact.

.. where Ikea gets stuck on ice, discovers an underwater giraffe and meets swans

Hello there! It’s me, Ikea!

i have to tell you what happened to me last week when i went geocaching a little bit. somehow there is also the sea nearby and because of all this cold weather previously, there is lots of ice. so i went to see, if the ice is strong enough for a giraffe. it was! but then something happened so that there was all this water between me and the land and i got stuck!!

don’t know if u have seen a giraffe stuck on an ice-bank before (Angel says he’s been stuck couple of times), but there i was. mostly very lovely ice i should say except this one side which was REALLY scary..

i have to say, being stuck was not so boring at all. first i was doing a little sunbathing, as u might guess. and then, i discovered another giraffe in the water, looking exactly like me!

so, i tried to find out where he was from. somehow i could not hear a word what he was saying. it seems to me that it’s because of all this water u know. because fish, they are same – you just can’t hear a thing what they are saying to you..

so even though i could not hear him, he could hear me, so we agree to play this little game called “mirror”. that’s when this other giraffe that u are playing with has to do exactly the same faces like you! hehe, that was very much fun. i almost fell in the water!

so, after that i watched a ship go by – but not very close. quite far in fact, so no harm for the ice bank that i was sitting on. luckily then i spotted this swan nearby:

have u read Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige, a book where Nils Holgersson travels across Sweden with a swan? i have, it’s a compulsory book for everyone in sweden - even giraffes, like me. so, me and this swan make a deal where she takes me to the shore.

the swans, they were not from Sweden, but from Germany. but this one swan Marie (on the right, that’s the one flying on that other fotograf), she knew a few words in English. that other one, that’s Maximilian. so we talk a little about politics – no i’m just joking :) we actually talk a little about snow and ice. because they tell me that they arrived early this year and somehow there’s not much to do here, because of the snow. especially there’s not enough of free water, so that they can’t swim.. anyways, i thank them because they had to go somewhere with the other swans. then i saw there were almost hundreds of them or so. A LOT, for a giraffe. what about u, have u seen swan’s lately? what were their names? have fun and c u l8r!
